TRENTON – NJAC supporters still have time to register for the upcoming conference on the state's integrated transportation system and its role in the world economy.
“We have an exceptional panel of experts assembled to discuss some of the projects that will elevate New Jersey’s position in the international marketplace,” said NJAC Executive Director Celeste Carpiano.
The Conference, entitled “Moving New Jersey Forward,” will feature speakers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Delaware River Port Authority, the state Department of Transportation, NJ Transit, the NJ Turnpike Authority and the state Economic Development Authority.
The event will be held on December 11 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Jamesburg, NJ. Also invited to attend are Governor-elect Chris Christie, Governor Jon Corzine and Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts.
“With its network of major seaports, airports, rail systems and highways, New Jersey is a gateway to the world,” said Carpiano. “International commerce is going to be a larger and more important part of our domestic economy, and it is going to be a major source of jobs and revenue for the future.”
The event will begin with a continental breakfast followed by opening remarks by NJAC President and Essex County Freeholder Carol Y. Clark. On behalf of the organization she will present Governor Corzine and Speaker Roberts with awards honoring their respective achievements.
After breakfast, Union County Manger George W. Devanney will moderate an all-star panel discussion with the leadership of the major transportation and economic planning agencies, including: Susan Bass Levin, Deputy Executive Director of the NY & NJ Port Authority; John Matheussen, CEO of the Delaware River Port Authority; Dianne Gutierrez-Scaccetti, Executive Director of the Turnpike Authority; Stephen Dilts, NJ Transportation Commissioner; Richard Sarles, Executive Director of NJ Transit; and Caren Franzini, CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority.
The program will break at 11:30 for a buffet luncheon, after which Chairman of the New York and New Jersey Port Authority Tony Coscia will deliver the keynote address.
“All of these leaders have substantial influence over the economy, and I am very proud that we have assembled such an impressive roster of speakers for our membership,” said Carpiano. “This is going to be one of our most informative events.”
