ELECTRONIC FAXING AFFORDABLE AND EFFECTIVE
Vineland, NJ – While great strides have been made toward the goal of a “paperless office” in recent decades, a five-year corporate study (BNET Business Wire – April 23, 1996) found that faxing still prevails over e-mail in American business. E-mail use has grown considerably, the study shows, but primarily for internal communications.
The fact is, many clients may require communications via fax for a variety of reasons, or may not even have the capability of receiving e-mail. Businesses that interact with such clients have traditionally turned to the stand-alone fax machine, but they now have another option. “Electronic faxing” allows users to send faxes from any computer with Internet access to a fax machine in another office. Documents are securely uploaded and faxed directly from one’s computer—no fax machine; no maintenance, supplies, or separate phone line for such a machine; no need to print and walk documents over to said machine; and no confidential information sitting in a fax tray waiting to be sent.
Another big benefit of electronic faxing is that while each transmission sent through a traditional fax machine costs the same as a phone call to the receiving number, electronic faxes are all “local” calls, just like an e-mail. The new faxing does not tie up computer or phone lines, either—the user simply hits “send” and moves on with business.
The number of companies providing this service is limited. One local company, however, is offering it with a particularly attractive set of features.
Townsware Corporation of Vineland, now in its eleventh year, is marketing an affordable electronic fax service called TwinFax.
“We carefully analyzed the services being offered in this category,” says Townsware President Sam Boutros. “We assembled the best features from each into one package.”
TwinFax allows users to manage their faxed documents with ease, tracking and archiving documents with online storage, creating personalized fax covers and templates, and generating a variety of custom reports at the touch of a button. Businesses receive the user-friendly software and open an account that allows them to pay a nominal per-page faxing fee instead of the monthly fee many competitors require.
Like its competitors, TwinFax is compatible with Microsoft Outlook Express and several other popular e-mail programs, permitting users to import their contact lists when they fax. But TwinFax now offers “MS Office Integration,” a special application allowing users to fax directly from MS Outlook and Word applications. In addition, only TwinFax allows users to send a request via fax for a broadcast job to be sent.
Another advantage of TwinFax is the availability of Townsware’s IT technicians. “One of our customers relies heavily on mass faxing, but his workers were somewhat uncomfortable with new technology,” said Boutros. “We worked with them to develop a coversheet featuring bar codes that contain all of the necessary information to differentiate each broadcast. All their workers need to do is just hit one button to send the fax as directed.”

NJAC BUSINESS ASSOCIATE BUILDING BUSINESS
WITH COUNTY GOVERNMENTS
GovDeals, Inc., one of NJAC’s newest business partners, reported recently that it has already done more than $700,000 worth of business with county governments in New Jersey.
“County officials are always looking for ways to save money and increase revenue, and GovDeals has what they’re looking for,” said Celeste Carpiano, NJAC’s executive director.
GovDeals, an Alabama-based company, runs an online auction similar to eBay that allows governments to buy and sell surplus items.
“The counties like it because it increases the pool of potential buyers and the logistics are much simpler,” said Carpiano. She explained that with conventional auctions, all of the items to be sold must be situated in one physical location, and the number of bidders is confined to the number of people who show up.
“With this service, people from across the country can bid on your items and the buyer is responsible for taking possession once the transaction is finalized,” she said.
Carpiano hopes that other companies will be encouraged by GovDeals’ experience as a Business Associate member of NJAC.
“It’s exciting for us when our members develop relationships that are mutually beneficial,” said Carpiano. “We want to see our business members do well, especially in this economy, and we’ll do everything that we can to give them exposure.”
The Annual NJAC Conference is the best place to get that exposure, according to Carpiano. The Conference will be held this year from June 10 through June 13 and hundreds of county officials will be there searching for new products and services to serve their constituents.
“If your company does business with county governments, or if you would like to do business with county governments, you should really be at our conference because that’s where you’ll get to build relationships,” said Caripano.
Businesses that wish to be exhibitors or sponsors of the NJAC Conference should call the NJAC staff at 609-394-3467, or log on to the website at www.njac.org.

ONLINE GOVERNMENT AUCTION COMPANY FORMS PARTNERSHIP WITH NJAC
For Immediate Release: April 4, 2008
NJAC ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH ONLINE AUCTION GOVDEALS INC.
The New Jersey Association of Counties today announced a strategic partnership with Govdeals, Inc., an internet auction company that allows governments to sell surplus or confiscated items to buyers from all across the country.
“The advantage in using GovDeals is that you have a much larger pool of bidders, which is likelier to result in higher bids,” said Celeste Carpiano, Executive Director of NJAC. “It’s a great way for county governments to boost their revenue and maximize the value of assets that they don’t need.”
Motor homes, automobiles, fire trucks, jewelry, industrial equipment – virtually anything that county governments have purchased or confiscated can be auctioned on GovDeals.com, according to Carpiano.
“They were recently awarded a contract from the state of New Jersey to serve all municipalities and county governments,” said Carpiano. “They’ve already worked with some of our counties and I know that they were pleased with the results.”
NJAC members who would like to learn more about GovDeals.com should log onto the company website at www.govdeals.com. In the meantime, the company intends to be an active participant in NJAC’s activities this year, including the Annual Conference from June 10 through June 13.
“We’re very excited by the potential that this relationship has for our members and for GovDeals,” said Carpiano.
