OUR MISSION
The New Jersey Association of Counties serves as an advocacy group for county governments and their taxpayers, promotes federal and state legislative initiatives that advance county interests, fosters cooperation and coordination among New Jersey’s 21 counties and aids county officials in providing efficient and effective service to their constituencies.
NJAC FOUNDATION
Recognizing the critical role that county government plays in delivering public services to the citizens of New Jersey, the New Jersey Association of Counties (NJAC) has established the NJAC Foundation as a vehicle for increasing public awareness about the effectiveness, value, efficiency, and necessity of county government. The Foundation accomplishes these goals through three primary means: educational scholarships, promotional seminars, and through the sponsorship of academic research.
The NJAC Foundation's scholarship initiative--"Partners in Educational Excellence"--recognizes the key role higher education plays in cultivating a responsible citizenry. Working cooperatively with the education, business, governmental, and educational institutions of New Jersey, the NJAC Foundation has created--and continues to create--opportunities for students to pursue educational opportunities at the collegiate level.
Promoting county government through opportunities which entertain in addition to being highly informative is one of the top priorities of the NJAC Foundation. Seminars and events highlighting the history, initiatives, and accomplishments of county government--and the positive benefits New Jersey residents have realized because of those accomplishments and initiatives--are vital tools to bring the importance of strong county government to the State's citizenry.
Strong county government, however, is the result of constant vigilance, commitment, and hard work. Effective county governments are the product of solid policies firmly ground in a strong intellectual foundation. To accomplish this, the NJAC Foundation will sponsor research and encourage the publication of periodic digests which focus on issues that impact upon the operation, administration, and regulation of county government.
